Caribbean Princess at Saint John |
Touch of Fall |
Local eatery |
Saint John, NB |
Walked around Saint John, the little city, a bit, but it didn't take very long at all. Around 2:30 or so, we decided to get back on the ship and went thru the security points, then encountered a very, very long line of people trying to get back on the ship. So slow...this was the security line for the ship....one scanner at the entrance. It was a little ridiculous.
Our pilot's boat |
Saint John as we left....just did a u turn out of that spot! |
We do the same route as this ship...they are everywhere we are. |
Some art on the ship....Cassidy, take a look... |
In fact, we've both
been a little bit disappointed in Princess on this cruise. Everybody seems so disorganized. The Anytime Dining room just sometimes doesn't
make any sense. They try to fill up
tables so everybody eats together but their are tables partially empty with
long lines waiting. After being ushered
upstairs last night to the traditional dining room, we decided they are
overwhelmed. I really think they try to
accommodate too many passengers and the ship isn't big enough for them. The dining rooms are too small, the theater
has 800 seats for a ship of 3000+ passengers...hence long, long lines. They do have 3 shows, but you can't move
around that area because of the people coming out of one show and the lines of
people getting ready for the next show.
We are done with the shows. Not
worth it. The best entertainment is
being held in the Piazza (the atrium) where there are few seats and everybody
is hanging over the rails, on the stairs, draped over each other, scooters and
wheelchairs blocking entrances....can't function there either. Went to the library to check it out....4
chairs/one wall of books. The rest of
the room is taken up with computers, computers, computers....most empty. Overall, this is probably way down on our
list of "good cruises".
We have had some interesting dinner companions. Last night, they were from California,
Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Tonight,
from New Hampshire and Long Island, NY.
It was Italian night tonight and we had a serenade from one
of the Head Waiters. He sang two
songs....and was very good.
I will have to say, also, that Claudio, the Headwaiter
taking care of my gluten-free requests, has been excellent. Very attentive.
After dinner, we fought our way around looking for something
to do, but ended up in the room reading and gonna watch a movie. Geez.
Tomorrow is Bar Harbor.
With the stupid government shutdown, Acadia is still closed so not sure
what we will do. Lots of tours
cancelled and lots of disappointed, angry people.
If they don't get it opened up by Thursday, we'll also miss
all of Boston's historical points.
